Nepal-China Tatopani border customs reopens after six-day closure

Nepal-China border Tatopani Customs reopened on Sunday after six days of closure due to a strike called by traders, the National News Agency RSS reported on Monday.

The customs point reopened following an agreement between the traders and the customs department to control smuggling and increase revenue patrolling, according to chairman of trans-Himalayan trade association Durga Bahadur Shrestha.

The traders have said smuggling was on the rise due to high evaluation of goods. The customs collects up to 8 million Nepali rupees (some 102,564 U.S. dollars) in revenue daily.
